School of Friendship Naša Srbija 2011

During the period July 2 through August 6, Naša Srbija organized its 11th School of Friendship, that gathered 600 children in Beli bor Hotel of the Military Institution Tara.



Naša Srbija organized its School of Friendship with the support of Banca Intesa, which is the general sponsor of the organization, and numerous friends. The workshop program was led by the expert team of Naša Srbija and the health care of the children was the responsibility of the medical team of the Institute for Child and Youth Health Care from Novi Sad.

 

This year the Friend Country of the School of Friendship was Israel and within the cooperation with the Israeli Embassy the Day of this country was celebrated with the presence of the President of Serbia Boris Tadic and the Ambassador Arthur Koll.

 

The first part of the School of Friendship was Multiethnic seminar Days of Friendship, organized for the sixth time. In the period of July 2 through July 9 the seminar gathered children of eight different nationalities who live on the territory of Serbia: the children of Hungarian nationality from Kanjiža, Ruthenian from Ruski Krstur, Romanian from Nikolinci, Slovakian from Bački Petrovac, Bosnian from Brodarevo, Albanian from Tupale, Bulgarian from Dimitrovgrad and Serbian children who are included in aid programs of Naša Srbija.



The Serbian code program gathered, for the second time, 200 children of Serbian nationality from eight countries of the region: Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Romania, Hungary and Slovenia. These are children from Kučevište near Skopje, Staro Nagoričino and Kumanovo in Macedonia, Bijelo Brdo and Vukovar in Croatia, Andrijevica and Plužine in Montenegro, Battonya and Budapest in Hungary, Timisoara in Romania, Skadar and the area in Albania, Ljubljana and Novo Mesto in Slovenia and Drvar and Bosansko Grahovo in Bosnia and Herzegovina.


They spent time together during the period of July 10 through July 25 learning about Serbian tradition, religion, language, culture and customs in appealing and interesting way, adapted to their age.



In the third part of the School of Friendship, from July 26 to August 6 there were 200 children on Mount Tara who are included in aid programs of Naša Srbija and they are the children whose parents were killed, kidnapped or missing during the past wars on our territories, as well as children from Serbian enclaves in Kosovo and Metohia who are the most numerous. Naša Srbija organized the participation of the children from our southern province in cooperation with non-governmental organization Children’s joy from Gnjilane, which received a donation from the Ministry for Kosovo and Metohia precisely for this purpose.


The program of psychosocial support was implemented in educational pedagogical and entertaining sports workshops whose aim is teaching children new knowledge and skills by learning and spending time together in schools of: Ethnology and Weaving, Painting and Sculpting, Ecology, Music, Journalism, Scouting and Computer School, as well as through the School of Sports which includes football, basketball, volleyball, rhythmic gymnastics and tennis.
