In the period from 26th to 28th March, in the “Narvik” hotel in Kikinda we organized multiethnic seminar with participation of children of different nationalities living in Serbia. These are the children of Hungarian nationality from Kanjiža, Ruthenian from Ruski Krstur, Romanian from Nikolinci, Slovakian from Bački Petrovac, Bosnian from
Brodarevo, Albanian from Medvedja, Bulgarian from Dimitrovgrad and Serbian children who are included in aid programs of “Naša Srbija”.
During their stay in Kikinda, children have participated in educational
workshops, enjoyed the hospitality of our hosts and spent pleasant time in socializing and sightseeing. Educational program was led by Dijana Kopunović.
The seminar has the theme “The differences are good” as part of longterm project “Days of Friendship” which “Naša Srbija” realizes within its School of Friendship on the Tara Mountain. Thanks to the support of Spain as Friend country, “Naša Srbija” has received donation from the government of Spain in amount of 100.000 euro for the implementation of the
project “Promotion of the multiethnic and multicultural tolerance between children and adolescents in Serbia through School of Friendship with goal to
build modern democratic society”.
This valuable subvention is the result of cooperation between “Naša Srbija” and the Embassy of Spain within the realization of the School of Friendship 2009 which was supported by Spain as Friend Country. This subsidized project includes realization of several multiethnic
seminars in organization of “Naša Srbija“ which participants are the children of eight different nationalities in Serbia. Within this project it has been already
realized Multiethnic seminar “Days of Friendship” 2009 and in the future period it will be held seminars: “Values of democratic society” in Vrnjačka Banja as well as the seminar “Let’s play and learn together” which will gather the participants in Belgrade. As the final part of the project “Naša Srbija” will realize “Days of Friendship” 2010 also within the upscoming School of Friendship on
the Tara Mountain.
The patronage of the seminar year in year out is Executive Council of Vojvodina and the general theme of the seminar is tolerance and cultural differences and the goal is promotion of multicultural values and contribution to the development of modern democratic society. As integral part of the School of Friendship which
treats intercultural education, this seminar creates the conditions for children of different ethnic beckgrounds to
meet each other, to make friendships and to learn from each other about cultural specificities through program of creative and educative workshops.
