School of Friendship "Naša Srbija" 2006, the sixth summer school to be held to date, took place from the 21 July to 5 August 2006 at the Tara Mountain, and for the first time at the children's resort 'Mitrovac'. The number of participants is the largest to date: 400 children from Serbia, Republika Srpska and the diaspora.
Also this year, 200 children from the Serbian enclaves of Kosovo and Metohia attended the School of Friendship. Thanks to the cooperation established between "Naša Srbija", another NGO "Children's Joy" from Gnjilane and the Co-ordination Centre Republic of Serbia for Kosovo and Metohia, children from the
following enclaves attended the School of Friendship: Kosovsko Pomoravlje, Cernica, Staro Gracko, Velika Hoča, Orahovac and Štrpce.
The School of Friendship also hosted children from London, whose participation was co-organized with the Serbian Society and the Serbian Council of Great Britain.
The principal idea behind the School of Friendship is learning by establishing friendships, playing, engaging creativity, and discovering new interests and potentials. The School of Friendship has the intention to create a diverse and complementary program for the children. This
program is based on the psychosocial support, and it is realized through children's collective participation in workshops with various contents. The workshops were designed with the aim of opening young minds to new concepts and experiences in the realms of ecology, ethnology, languages, song and dance, sports, journalism, drama and the world of computers... The program was run by the professional team of
"Naša Srbija", under the tutelage of Ph.D. Žarko Trebješanin.
For the first time, this year a 4 day multi-ethnic seminar was introduced under the name "Days of Friendship".
The program was further enriched by participation of renowned individuals from the world of sports, social life and the arts.
The Honorary Host of this year's School of Friendship was the City of Belgrade, which sponsored the food and lodgings for all the children. The general sponsor was the "Soko Štark" company.
