Under the patronage of the Embassy of Cyprus in Belgrade has ended the open competition for two full scholarships for studies in the European University of Cyprus in Nicosia. The scholarships are the gift of the Government of Cyprus for young people in Serbia and they include payed scholarship for bechelor four-year studies on the Departtment for European studies on this faculty as well as payed living expenses and traveling during the studies. The scholarships are awarded to Miona Aleksic from Pristina and Aleksandra Dzogovic from Kosovska Mitrovica who will start their studies on Cyprus from September 28th. These valuable scholarships are donated by the initiative of Mrs. Elsi Christofias, the spouse of the President of Cyprus Dimitris Christofias. Mrs. Christofias announced this kind of support for children in Serbia during her official visit to our country and to „Nasa Srbija“.

Aright for participation on the open competition had candidates from the territory of Republic of Serbia who graduated high school or gymnasium, the young people who remained without one or both parents during the past wars on the territory of ex-Yugoslavia – children of civil war vicitims, kidnnaped or missing, children of killed members of regular or reserve Military and Police forces and candidates who live in Kosovo and Metohia.

The cooperation between „Nasa Srbija“ and the Embassy of Cyprus began in 2008. by participation of Cyprus in the role of Friend Country in realization of the School of Friendship, when children from Cyprian enclave Rizokarpaso were our guests in the School of Friendship. Through its Embassy in Belgrade, the friendly country Cyprus has donated 5000 eur for facilitation one of the classroom in the School of Friendship were workshops take part. This classroom in a symbolic way presents the enclave and its children.
